Puma’s new ecological packaging

Monday, April 26th, 2010

It’s no secret that I’m a die hard Puma fan boy. I mean, really, why would you buy anything else? Ok, Ok I might have a serious Puma addiction, but don’t let that taint the news that Puma has completely re-thought shoe packaging to help reduce their ecological footprint.

Unlike other brands that talk about sustainability, but don’t really do much of anything, Puma is taking it very seriously and pushing sustainability to the next level. Introducing: the Puma Clever Little Bag. (see video below)

In typical Puma fashion it not only makes more sense, but looks cooler too. Look at that picture at the top of this post and just try to tell me that the new Puma shoe bag doesn’t look cooler than a Puma shoe box… Ahh… how I love thee Puma. For more detailed information about the new shoe bags and the rest of Puma’s ecological advancements check out the Puma.Safe site.

NY Fashion Week Summary

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

NY Fashion Week. I look forward to this every fall as a source of inspiration,  excitement, and provoking thought… Sadly, this year was NONE of those things. There was very little distinction between the top houses, and near to no innovation to be found anywhere. Even my usual favourites Ralph Lauren and Zac Posen were huge let downs (Don’t worry Ralph your still my hero). I’m just not sure the world, especially myself, want the late 80′s / early 90′s jean jackets, zip off pants, high waist lines and gaudy blues to return…. EVER!

Alas, all the top fashion houses have gone back in time to my childhood to pull these old looks as “new”. Simply terrible. Period. The only shows that actually inspired me and dared to push fashion in a new direction were Oscar De La Renta, Narciso Rodriguez, and Nicole Miller.

Especially Nicole Miller’s collection, simultaneously fresh, unique, and … I can’t believe I’m going to say this after her collection last year... beautiful. The below looks are Nicole’s amazing work for Spring 2010.

New York Fashion week in full swing

Monday, February 16th, 2009

New York Fashion Week is in full swing. The schedules, images, and videos from all the shows can be found on the official site: www.mbfashionweek.com/newyork/fall2009/

Like usual all my favourites aren’t until Thursday and Friday, but I have watched a couple shows and  busted out laughing at Nicole Miller’s Fall line. While most of the pieces were so-so, the grouping shown below cracks me up. Spiderman outfits anyone? ;)

NYC Fashion Week part B (spring 2009 collections)

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

In my previous post I guested that Zac Posen and Ralph Lauren would once again blow everyone away and I am happy to report I was correct. You can watch Ralph Lauren’s Spring Collection 2009 runway show here and can see the highlights from Zac Posen’s show below. (seriously though Zac, what is up with the purple lip stick on all the models? Did they all get in bar fights? ;) )
