The past month

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

It’s been the better part of a month since I last posted. I have to admit it was not because I was too busy. I have been working on my thesis but I have not been as busy as I have been in the past. No. I have not been posting because I am in a state of political shock. I cannot believe the things that are happening to our country. I feel as if it’s already been four years of this communist jargon and destruction, but alas it has only been four weeks! Will we still be the home of the free four years from now? We barely made it through the past eight years of socialism… how can liberty survive four years of communism on top of that?

On a more upbeat note, my thesis is coming along nicely. We created a website for our thesis and I am pleased with the graphic quality of it. You can check it out at www.ReedStreetYards.com. The progress page will be updated throughout the semester. We are currently in the initial master planning phase and are completing our 40″x60″ site and context model. Yeah, it’s huge…. it’s 1:50 scale meaning every inch is equal to fifty feet. Put another way the model represents a 2000 foot by 3000 foot area in the real world. We will be throwing an animation of us building it on our thesis site’s progress page soon.

Hmm… The only other item that’s really changed the last month is Chelsea’s continuing fall in the EPL rankings. We have had an unfortuante number of ties and loses which have translated to fourth place overall. Man U is currently in first with Liverpool and Aston Villa close behind. Now I don’t want to curse us, but at this point in the season we really have no chance at moving back into first. We need to pray that over the final 3 months we can manage to hold onto fourth so we still have a chance at qualifying for Champions League play.

EPL Round 21: disaster strikes

Monday, January 12th, 2009

I don’t know how to put it any other way… we got destroyed by Man U Sunday. We never put a solid shot on goal and walked away from the match with a 0-3 loss. I’m speechless. This helped Man U hold onto 3rd place… only one point behind us, and Liverpool continues to hold first position with a 4 point lead. It was a sad, sad, sad moment for us Chelseans.

Next weekend’s Round 22 may be the round we get bumped down to third. We play Stoke City who held Liverpool to a tie in round 21. (No easy feat, as I will even admit, because Liverpool is definitely the best squad this season.) Man U will play at home against Wigan Athletic and will most certainly win. Next weekend could be very depressing if we don’t beat Stoke City.

EPL Round 14

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Today we tied Newcastle 0-0; thanks largely to Newcastle’s goal keeper Shay Given. Given is possibly the best I have ever seen. We took 10 amazing shots on goal and he blocked everyone effortlessly. We out controlled Newcastle with 64% – 36% ball possession, but it didn’t really matter as the Newcastle defense was rock solid. Luckily for us, Liverpool also tied 0-0 against Fulham to ensure we continue to top the rankings.

Well, I’m off to start the final push for the end of the semester in my architecture studio. Wish me luck. (or more importantly, wish me time to sleep!)

EPL round 13

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

We (Chelsea) crushed West Bromwich Albion scoring three goals in the first half. Ultimately, we were unable to push the points higher in the second half giving a final score of 3-0. Liverpool continues to be tied with us at the top of the premiership by beating Bolton Wanderers 2-0 this round. We edge them out for first only on goals scored. Man U continued to hold 3rd position. What is more interesting is the bottom half of the premiership are within 3 points (one win) of each other. This is stacking up to be a tight fought season.
